Well, Halloween is officially over. Nathan and I went to church to help out with the "Trunk or Treat" event, instead of staying home. We don't have kids in our neighborhood (we live in the college area of town, and I can't wait to get out)! We got to run the "concession stand" as Pastor Wayne called it..but yet, we never charged anything for anything!
Life is life. Things are still not necessarily better at the moment, but in time, they'll get better I'm sure.
I'm still begging for prayers for my family, and again, I will at some point, share what has been going on, but for right now, it has to stay as quiet as I can keep it.
Prayers are all that are keeping us going right now -- I know I've got great prayer warriors in my prayer buddies at church, and I know that my pastors are praying for us, but more prayer never hurt anyone! Please add us to prayer chains or just to your personal prayer list.
School started back for me this week -- back to the grindstone -- only this set of classes will be tougher than the last two. So much for my 4.0!!!
I guess that's all for now. I'm getting tired and we should be heading for bed, as it's 1:51am EDT, and we have to be up in the morning to help run a Magic: The Gathering Tournament, and we have to be there around 9:30!!!!

Prayers
I just hopped on here to request prayers. Something happened today that I can't really talk about at the moment (nothing health wise or anything, just an unfortunate incident involving someone other than myself or Nathan).
I do know that this is VERY VERY vague. I'm sorry. At some point, I will explain it all on here, but some things must be worked out first before I can really talk and let loose. But know that prayers are something we REALLY REALLY need right now.
If you know me in real life, you may/may not know what's going on. If you do, please don't go around discussing it, I beg you. I will talk about it soon enough, but until some things are worked out, I'd rather it not be discussed publicly. Also if you do know me IRL, feel free to call. I'm more than willing to talk about it one-on-one, than publicly on here. However, I know that asking for prayers is something I have to do, and it's one of those things I'm working on (with God's help).

Long week...
It's been a long week. We've been involved with the Judgement House presentation at church, and it's been long. We've been at church every day this week, with the exception of Tuesday (and I think we ended up there somehow on Tuesday too!) and we're finally winding down. Somehow, I think we'll manage to get a few things done around the house before we head back to AWANA on Wednesday night. But I'm not sure how much will get done -- we'll see.
Judgement House was in a word, AWESOME!!! With God's help, many came to know Christ as their Savior, and many more rededicated their lives to Him! It's been an awesome experience to be involved with. I was a teacher (yes, I was typecasted!) in scene 3, with several high schoolers. We had an great time, a great team, and I feel like we really made a difference.
However, being involved left little time for anything else, including sleep. We skimped on sleep every night, and are totally exhausted. Nathan's still got to get up for work tomorrow (at 5:30am!) and I still need to get up and look for a full time job, so no rest for the weary!
Speaking on jobs...I could use a little prayer -- I'm still looking for a full time job (obviously, by the mentioning of it!), but I have a lead on a job that seems somewhat promising. It's a job that I would enjoy (it entails some politics!) and it's something I feel I can do well. Just pray that God's will be done with whatever job I end up in. I'm still trying to get in touch with some places that I have put resumes in at, but right now, not finding much.
Don't forget to vote! If you know me, you know my political views and opinions, but most of all, I want everyone to get out and VOTE!!! If you don't vote, don't whine!!!! :)
I guess that's it for now -- I think we're going to try and get some sleep at this point -- Nathan has to be up in 3 hours, but we need a little sleep anyway. I'm going to finish up my resume and cover letter in the morning and hopefully fax it off to hopefully be considered for what I consider to be a dream job for me!
Also, pray for those who went through Judgement House -- that they may be touched by the hand of Christ, and that they may never forget their experiences. Also pray for those who made decisions, that they will continue to follow the path they began.

Here goes the intro...
Well, so much for the idea that I would write this thing tomorrow....I'm still up, as Nathan isn't quite ready for bed yet, so I thought that I would at least get started...
As for me, I'm Melissa (duh.... :) ) I'm 27, a graduate of EKU (BA of Education) and working on my master's degree through the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY (middle grade education: social studies/math). I'm doing the distance learning thing, so my classes are online once a week. I'm quite involved in church (Porter Memorial Baptist Church), teaching AWANA (4th grade girls), Judgement House producation (October each year), and lots of things that pop up throughout the year (VBS, et. al). I'm not currently working full time (although I wish I had a full time job!), but I'm trying to put together the house we're currently living in, and in general trying to get used to being a wife.
Nathan is 28, also a graduate of EKU (music performance in strings and percussion), as well as a degree in Network Administration from AIU. He's contemplating his master's degree, but hasn't started as of yet. He's also involved at PMBC, teaching AWANA (3rd grade boys), helping out behind the scenes at Judgement House, and other various activities that I get him involved in. He's working full time for Lexmark and still helps out at Pizza Hut as a manager at times.
We have two dogs (who are more like children than dogs), Brutus and Reese. Brutus was mine before we got married and he's a shar pei mix who thinks its fun to follow me around, given the opportunity. Reese belonged to Nathan, and he's a big border collie mix. He just likes to dig...and play fetch with himself..which is actually quite amusing.
We've been married since May 17, 2008, and while we have issues at times, there's no question that we love each other. The difficulties have helped us to realize how much we really do love each other and how much we mean to the other. It sounds cliche, but it's true. I'll post more about our difficulties later on, I'm just not up for addressing emotional issues tonight. I can say this, as it goes to the title of the blog... This is the life God has given us, and we're determined to live it in the most honorable way possible. We don't get to live life on our terms, it's all about God's terms and what He has in store. We've both tried to life on our terms in the past, and it hasn't work. We've decided, after prayer and discussion, that the best way to live our lives together is on God's terms -- it's only then that we get the joy and peace that God provides to us.
I guess that's it. We're looking forward to what God has in store for our family. Feel free to read and ask questions at any point -- we'll do our best to answer them. For now, a quote from a friend from college (oh it sounds so strange to say "a friend from college" like it's been that long!)
"Life is ridiculous -- but God is faithful". I think about it, and Ashley has totally hit the nail on the head with this one!

Welcome to Our New Home on the Web
Well, this is hopefully the start of something new. This is a new blog so that Nathan and I can share news with our families and friends. There isn't alot of news right now, and we both blog elsewhere as well as here (LiveJournal habits die hard!), but hopefully this way we can reach everyone (even those of you who don't have LiveJournal accounts).
For those of you whose blogs I follow through blogger, welcome! I/We don't know you in real life, but we're glad to have you here! I'm going to try and post a background post either later tonight or tomorrow (probably tomorrow, as I'm exhausted at the moment).
